For me, the definition of beauty is raw, natural and healthy. I’m a big believer that what we put on and into our bodies can have an impact on our overall health. Using products that contain toxic ingredients can be a contributor to health issues such as cancer, hormone disruption, skin irritations and more.
I’m here to create positive body image awareness and to help woman of all shapes and sizes feel good about themselves. I want to teach you how to use make-up to enhance your natural beauty, and to help you find your own version of beautiful
Before applying makeup, it’s important to make sure your skin is exfoliated and well hydrated to ensure foundation and concealer applies smoothly and doesn’t cling to any dry patches. Choose natural skin care that assists with balancing your complexion.
SELECTING THE RIGHT PRODUCTS FOR YOUR SKIN TYPE
Choose foundation and concealer that compliments your skin type and skin tone. My skin is fairly normal, but tends to dry out in certain areas. I like to use creamy foundations and concealers that provide hydration and light coverage whilst letting my natural skin show through. The Kjaer Weis cream foundation and Alima Pure cream concealer are the perfect products for my skin, particularly through the cooler months when my skin is prone to dryness.
To get the right colour for your skin, test foundation on the side of your face near your jawline. This area gives you an indication of how the tone will suit your skin overall. Take a step back from the mirror and see how well it blends with your neck, shoulders and chest for the most natural looking colour.
APPLICATION IS KEY
How you apply your foundation and concealer is just as important as choosing the right product. For the most flawless and natural finish, it’s important to focus on pressing product into the skin. This includes liquid, cream and powder products. For the Kjaer Weis foundation I like to stipple the product into my skin with a brush, applying light layers and gradually building to my desired coverage. I also finish with a beauty blender to ensure the product is pushed into the skin as mush as possible.
When using the Alima Pure concealer I like to use my finger to warm the product and gently press this onto problem areas, such as my under eyes, blemishes uneven skin tone. The warmth of your fingertip will melt the product into your skin, giving an almost undetectable finish.
SET AND FINISH
If you’re applying any liquid or cream base product it’s important to set the product to minimise risk of creasing and increase staying power. Applying powder using a brush or beauty blender gives the best results when pressed into the skin. The W3LL People Realist Invisible Setting powder is a beautiful natural product that brightens, blurs imperfections and sets your makeup in place with an invisible finish.
