Meet AILA Founder, Dr Cary Gannon

Dr Cary Gannon likens many years of her life to that of a ticking time bomb. Experiencing the stress of having lived through a rare disease, the raising of two children, and managing a surgical career prompted her to make healthy changes in her life and, by extension, inspire other women who are chronic "over-functioners." After discovering the disturbing, hidden truth behind the making of many of the products in her podiatry industry, Dr Gannon’s "OMG! moment" led her to take matters into her own hands, and AILA Cosmetics was born. In developing AILA Cosmetics, she found balance in her life by intentionally marrying the words health and beauty into a gorgeous line of products that empowers women to never settle for less than they're worth. Dr Gannon is proud to offer a luxurious product which functions like a high-end nail system because it is a high-end nail system.

Typical nail polish contains chemicals that are damaging to nails – the "nasty five":

Formaldehyde: Formaldehyde has been commonly used in nail hardeners and nail polish despite being classified as a known carcinogen by the US National Toxicology Program. It is also used as a tissue fixative and an embalming agent!
Formaldehyde Resin: A synthetic polymer used in circuit boards and moulded products such as pool balls and coatings and adhesives.
Toluene: An organic solvent with the ability to dissolve paint, rubber, ink, adhesive, lacquers, among other products. It is frequently employed as an octane booster for internal combustion systems.
Dibutyl phthalate (DBT): DBT is a plasticiser and a common additive to adhesives. It is suspected that DBT may disrupt the endocrine system and has been restricted from use in cosmetics by the European Union.
Camphor: Camphor is another chemical used in the embalming process but also has applications as a plasticiser for nitrocellulose and in fireworks. It is highly flammable and toxic even in small doses.
